Who it's for
Anyone on a tight budget who needs a clear step up from a laptop's built-in camera for calls, streaming a face-cam, or a secondary angle.
Overview
The Logitech C270 is the webcam that's been the default budget pick for over a decade — a simple 720p plug-and-play camera with a noise-reducing mic and automatic light correction that just works across Zoom, Teams, Skype, and Discord with zero drivers or setup. It's not built for cinematic quality, but for the price it's a real, noticeable upgrade over a laptop's built-in camera.
Pros
- Genuinely plug-and-play — no drivers or software needed on most systems
- Automatic light correction noticeably improves image quality in dim rooms
- Built-in mic is a real step up from a laptop's internal microphone
- Extremely cheap way to upgrade video calls or add a second angle
Cons
- 720p resolution looks soft compared to any 1080p/4K webcam
- No autofocus — fixed-focus lens can look slightly soft up close
- Plastic clip mount feels basic on thicker monitors
What buyers say
21,369 ratings average 4.4/5. Buyers consistently call it a reliable, no-fuss upgrade over a built-in laptop camera for the price, with the main criticism being that 720p and fixed focus look dated next to newer 1080p/4K webcams.
Perfect budget upgrade for video calls
Says it plugged in and worked instantly with no software install, and the difference versus their laptop's built-in camera was immediately obvious on a work call.
Great for the price, just don't expect 1080p
Bought several for a home office setup and says image quality is fine for calls and light streaming, but recommends stepping up to a 1080p model if sharper video matters for the use case.
Reliable workhorse for years
Has used the same unit for remote work meetings for several years without a single failure, and says the light correction handles their dim home office better than expected.
